I found this fair-condition softcover at a local Savers thrift shop, and thought it looked interesting: it's set in the context of rum-running off the Rhode Island coast in the 1920's. Two young friends get caught up in the illicit operations, with trauma and tragedy ensuing - though an epilogue hints that perhaps not everything is as bleak as it might have seemed.
