Picked up at the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library Used Book Sale, Greensburg, Pa., November 2015.
This book tells the story of Mr. March, who is away at war in the beginning chapters of "Little Women," by Louisa May Alcott. Selected this from Mt. TBR as I have recently watched the 2018 version of "Little Women" on PBS, followed by a documentary on Louisa May Alcott.
I like books like this that take a well-known story and tell it from a different character's perspective. I like that Geraldine Brooks based Mr March on Louisa May Alcott's father, just as LMA based "Little Women" on her and her three sisters. A tremendous amount of research went into this book and it felt very authentic, both to the period and the original story.
