I just *loved* the movie, but haven't read the book. Better for it to travel and fulfill a wish!

"Aawww shucks!" NPR's Nancy Pearl said. "I know that's hardly a usual way to begin a book review, but it was my immediate response to finishing Matthew Quick's heartwarming, humorous and soul-satisfying first novel . . . This book makes me smile."
Meet Pat Peoples. Pat has a theory: his life is a movie produced by God. And his God-given mission is to become physically fit and emotionally literate, whereupon God will ensure him a happy ending―the return of his estranged wife, Nikki. (It might not come as a surprise to learn that Pat has spent several years in a mental health facility.) The problem is, Pat's now home, and everything feels off. No one will talk to him about Nikki; his beloved Philadelphia Eagles keep losing; he's being pursued by the deeply odd Tiffany; his new therapist seems to recommend adultery as a form of therapy. Plus, he's being haunted by Kenny G!
David O. Russell, the Oscar-nominated director of The Fighter, is helming his own adaptation of The Silver Linings Playbook, featuring Bradley Cooper (People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive) in the role of Pat, alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Julia Stiles, Chris Tucker, and Jacki Weaver. As the award-winning novelist Justin Cronin put it: "Tender, soulful, hilarious, and true, The Silver Linings Playbook is a wonderful debut."

Traveling, along with another book, to fulfill wishes. Hope you like them!
You are so wonderful, eponine38!! Thank you for thinking of me. I will pass it along after I read it.
This is the second Matthew Quick book I have read. I loved this book. In The Silver Linings Playbook, Mr. Quick has done something difficult for literature to do: inspire hope. You might think that a book about a guy who has lost so much--his wife, his home, his job, and many years of his life in a mental health facility--would be depressing. Far from it. In fact, this book is uplifting. For what Quick offers us is not just the brutality of life--a father who won't talk to his son, a cheating wife, many violent tempers--but also the beauty of it--finding love in unexpected people. Basically, Quick shows us that no matter how far down you fall, there are people willing to help you pick yourself back up. Quick gives us hope.
Enjoy! off to a friend at work.
Enjoy! KTM RABCK to rhythmbiscuit from the ABC VBB
Thank you for sending the book. I'm looking forward to reading it.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as previous readers did. I found Pat somewhat engaging, but he's like a naïve child, and that wore on me after a while. I liked the therapist, Cliff. I think it's hilarious Pat is haunted by Kenny G. But I discovered I didn't really care how it would all turn out.
