It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.Bob's Mythological Garden

Thank you Faizy, I'm sure to enjoy this. All kinds of mythological creatures are totally my cup of tea.
First of all, let me say that I'd take Bob's job immediately if the position is still open after he stormed off in a huff! ;) I've always loved (reading about) mythological creatures and can't imagine anything that would be more fun.
This is a sweet story, well written and with cute illustrations, and I can see this making wonderful good-night reading.
But as with The Frog Who Loved Mathematics, I'm left feeling a little at a loss. I still had questions, and felt the end came on all to sudden.
As with The Frog, this clearly is a cautionary tale, but you don't get served the moral on a silver platter.
So Bob was obviously rude to the creatures (and probably ruined his employer unwittingly in the process), but it clearly also isn't advisable for large groups to invade a stranger's house and empty the fridge without a warning, letting alone an invitation.
To me this sounds like nothing so much as a culture clash! I immediately thought of the piece in Sprich langsam, Türke where the Turkish boy is completely horrified by the fact that the parents of his German friends tell him to go home when it's time for dinner, rather than feeding him as a matter of course. (I remember this from my own childhood, when there was a certain chance that my friends' parents might get mad if their kids were sent home fed when that hadn't been agreed upon beforehand; I can only assume that this wasn't out of lack or food or hospitality, but because it would have been perceived to interfere with one's parenting, or to avoid disappointment if the other parents had prepared food that would then go uneaten.)
Clearly, for all its cute and harmless looks, this is a story to spark some discussion!
Let's see, if I like it...
