For almost 10 years, ever since Belgarion ran his sword through Torak, there has been peace in the West.

A true descendant of Riva Iron Grip once again sat on the throne of the Rivan King and Garion and Ce'Nedra had assured the line by producing the crown prince Geran.

But there was evil stirring in the East. One dark night the crown prince Geran is spirited away from the citadel at Riva. Garion is joined by diverse companions on his quest to recover his son.

Once again, the characters are fantasic, most we have met in the Belgariad, some briefly, their tasks just now beginning.

And once again, unfortunately, the minor inconsistencies in the books are somewhat frustrating!

However, as with the Belgariad, the Malloreon is equally enjoyable and worth a read.
