Very good book. I didn't like the first 3 chapters, but kept going. Once I hit my stride, I realized why I had trouble with the first couple of chapters; there is an industry out there turning Jane Austen into 'chick lit'. This is not part of it. What was fascinating is that you could see another interpretation of a favorite P & P character that wasn't quite yours, but still had a depth and an honesty to it. Apparently James had never quite been satisfied with either Colonel Fitwilliam or Charlotte and it shows in this book. I won't give away any secrets here, but if you have been puzzled by the acceptance of Austen as Chick Lit, you will probably enjoy this literate, considerate, novel of the Darcys and their friends in the wake of an unexpected murder at Pemberly. [and no, Elizabeth does not solve it running around in a crinoline. That would have made Austen spin in her grave!]

Fly far little book!
