When the exquisitely handsome Dorian Gray sees his portrait he dreams of remaining young forever while his painted image grows old and, in a sudden moment, he offers his soul in return for perpetual youth.
When I read this novel a couple of years ago, I enjoyed it a lot. I kept it to reread it at some point. Considering the amount of "to-be-read"s I decided to undust the book and forward it to Vampcruci. Apparently she wants to read Wilde's only novel for some time.
It has been hiding away and I found it in extremis, so I can hand it on with another one.
Passé à J pour Vampicruci.
Interesting way to distort my nickname :) dear Beetleblatt :)
Thanks for the book. Don't mention my own 'to-be-read' list (150+), I don't even have opportunity to consider re-read!

Well, I never thought Dorian Gray was such a despicable character. I hated him from the beginning, he is a toerag and made me want to thow up. I thought it was all about getting old, but it was much more than aging. I believe Lord Henry was more than a friend, I feel he is responsible for everything and could be the Devil himself. I found the book well written, enjoyed the prose, and wanted to read more, except the weird sensation that the dialogs and action timing was wrong (too slow for what they were saying, which took them a day, when it would take us 20 minutes of conversation only). It was overall a really good read.
