This book was in my possession for about 30 minutes! Jaime had given me the entire Eve Duncan series -- well at least all of those which were out in paperback -- and I had started in on the first book. My friend Beth was heading for her vacation in Maine and was looking for something to take with her. Turns out that she had read the earlier books in the series, so I sent this one off with her. Of course, later in the month when I had completed the first three books, I had to run out and buy another copy. (Unfortunately, that copy didn't get registered here at BookCrossing before I gave it away.)

As the book begins, Eve is resisting Senator Melton's request to perform a facial reconstruction. But politicians know how to apply pressure in many ways, and when his henchman reveals secrets which her boyfriend Joe Quinn had tried to hide from her, Eve runs all the way to Louisiana to the job Melton has set up.

This wasn't the best book in the series. Nevertheless, I immediately opened its sequel and read it just as quickly.

So -- I really enjoyed this book. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series and will probably get it from the Public Library instead of waiting for it to come out in paperback so I can purchase it.
