I have to take the review and comments that my cousin wrote about this book...........a wonderful synopsis that lacks nothing.

The author did a good job of making the reader aware of Randy's fragile psyche, and how it was drawn out by the needs of the moment, as he got deeper and deeper into Stray Rescue, and as he began to realize he could not keep a grip on his definition of himself (as a wimp), as the size of his venture expanded. A good example of the dictum "Do what you love, the rest -- money -- will follow." The author did a fine job of letting his development be drawn out by the situations, and finally to reveal how competent Randy had become, from simply addressing the needs, in the moment. She managed to not let the cat out of the bag too early, and so to have the reader half-drenched in sweat, wondering each time if Randy would pull it together at each new hurdle.

I liked the information about comparing the wolf pack ethology with that of the feral "domesticated" dogs -- how little there was left of REAL wolf behavior to draw upon to help the feral dog survive in the cityscape. That was also well done, without being preachy or overly intellectual.
