It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.Abandon

This book caught my eye at Annie's Bookstop on DW Highway; at first I just thought that the title would be perfect for a wild release, but upon reading the blurb it seems that this might be the kind of is-it-real-or-am-I-mad horror story that I enjoy, so I'll give this one a try.

Well... it had its points, including some chilling scenes near the conclusion. But overall I found it alternately too dry or too indulgently "what is real?", and the latter got a bit tedious after a while. I think part of the problem was that I never felt much empathy for the narrator, and while the growing hints of something terribly wrong - hauntings, long-hidden crimes, etc - were intriguing, I didn't find that they came together very effectively. [I saw part of the movie that was "inspired by" the story, and could tell at once that it was vastly different, changing focus to another character and so forth. It didn't grab me either {wry grin}.]
Perhaps someone else will enjoy this more than I did.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
I left the book on top of the newspaper machines just outside of Christopher's, at about 4:30. [Good title for a wild release, don't you think?]
*** Later: It's been caught - and it turns out that this is the 100th of my wild releases to be caught and journalled! Thanks for signing in, HappyGoth!

I'm not done reading the book but so far so intersting. ;) I found him at a pizza shop. I threw it in the back of my car that night.. later in Boston I was held up.. ironically enough right outside of Harvard Yard and I cracked it open to start reading. Can you see the boston skyline from Harvard? I never knew that. Guess the writer would know however, he's noted as someone who attended the school.
So far so interesting. I like the detached narritive. Makes you want to slap the main character but not hate him. Much like the character of Cloud from Final Fantasy 7 (a video game for the playstation)
I plan to travel out of New England in a month or so. I'm unsure if I will drop if of in my travels or not. But it should be re-entered into the wild in a few weeks (if I take it to Harvard) or 2 months (other side of America)

Right before "the stairs from hell" I left Abandon... Abandoned. With the orriginal post it note, bookmark and everything. about an hour later we went back down the stairs to go to (ironically enough) Harvard (wasn't in our plans or else I'd have left the book in Adam's Hall) and the book was gone. Hope it gets registered!
