Another book in the line of jeweled witches and warlords by Anne Bishop.
The Red-Jeweled Warlord Jared is bound as pleasure slave by the Ring of Obedience and traded as a slave among the jeweld witches loyal to the evil Dorothea SaDiablo (OK, now isn't the name a dead give-away!).
Jared kills his current owner and escapes only to be captured, tortured and sold into slavery again.
This time his new owner is a mysterious Gary Lady who may be more or less than she seems.
Despite the concept of pleasure slaves the book isn't loaded with sex scenes and love, honor and loyalty play a much more important part in the story. For those who've read the Black Jewels Triology this is a prequel to that story with some of the characters you already know playing minor parts.
