My friend gave me this - it's a copy produced specially for world book night where people give away multiple copies of the same book. I'm intrigued by the concept as much as the book!

This was great book. Reading history from the viewpoint of a German originally written in 1935. It whistles through the world's history and has a reasonable spread (although still a European focus) but some of the aspects of history which fascinate the Brits (eg the Tudors) merit only a sentence or two and the history of the first world war written before the 2nd happened is also illustrative of thinking at the time that has since been overwritten.
