Which came first the chicken or the egg, or in this case the movie or the book? The answer, in this case, happens to be the movie.

Normally don't care for books that are nothing more than movie tie-ins, but this one, while it was just that, was pretty good. Perhaps I felt that way because I'd never seen the movie until after I read the book.

Anyone who likes the themes of teen angst, of striving to live your life to the fullest, of breaking the mold of society's and parental expectations, and of a special teacher making a difference in the lives of young people should like this book, and the movie too, of course. (But, naturally, you've probably already seen the movie long ago, or at least have some idea what it's about, and know all of that.)

I "caught" the book at a Hollywood Video near my house. it was in front of the corresponding movie.
I plan on putting it right back where i found it and let someone else read the book.
