Neither Here Nor There: Travels in Europe

Very funny travelog! Bryson retraces the steps of his summer trip in Europe in the late 1960s. Now he is older, and wiser, and offers a great deal of information about how Europe has changed, and how it has remained the same. Starting in Scandanavia, he travels around a great deal of the European continent. There were some countries he missed (unfortunately! I would have loved to hear what he said about Iberia, and Greece, and some more of the Eastern European states), but it was great fun to read. Highly recommended for anyone who loves travel books.

Received 2/27/04 from Seferim -- already halfway through two days later and having a lot of fun reading it! Will post more when I finish. Thanks, Seferim!
Bill Bryson is so funny. He's one of the few authors who can make me laugh out loud. His account of traveling alone around Europe -- interspersed with stories from his youthful backpacking experience in the same places in the early 1970s -- is observant and endlessly entertaining. I'm not sure I liked it quite as much as _Notes from a Small Island_, but that may just be because I've been to England and not to continental Europe, so there was more I could personally identify with in _Notes_. I'm looking forward to reading more of Bryson's books.
On its way to sleone.
Received today. Thank you!
