A very disparate group of people join because of different circunstances in a small town in England. They are normal everyday people, so the unlikely becomes fact: a murder is committed in that seemingly sleepy town.
The thing of the narrator, I prefer not to mention it. I even have to mention this novel in my public-service examinations.
