Haven't read this one yet. The Donator keeps asking when this one will be released, so I'll release this copy and then nag her to borrow hers later.

From the back:
Spirited, independent and in her late twenties, Miss Annis Wychwood held herself to be past the age for falling in love.

Befriending a pretty runaway heiress brings unexpected consequences, among them the very conflicting emotions aroused by her encounters with the wayward girl's guardian, Mr Oliver Carleton, who was quite the rudest man Annis has ever met...

I received this book from a fellow BookCrosser, and it is well worth reading, though it is rather old and the print is tiny. It might be worth circulating a newer edition under the same BCID number if somebody could get hold of a copy. So far it doesn't seem to be one of her funniest books, with none of the very comic drunks she has described in the past or any completely dopey young men. So far Miss Wychwood seems to control a number of light-headed, giggling youngsters, but she has a very charming companion whom I really love, the elderly Miss Farlow who never stops chattering and whose feelings are so easily hurt. She absolutely charmed me right at the beginning, on page 20, when she rattled on about all the things in the Bible that she couldn't understand -

" ' Better a dinner of herbs where love is than a stalled ox and hatred therewith'.
"Even though I am not at all partial to herbs, except for a little parsley in a sauce, and I have never been able to understand how anyone, even a Biblical person, could possibly LIVE on herbs. However, when one thinks of all the MOST peculiar things that happened in the Bible, well, it makes one positively thankful that one didn't live in those days! Bushes catching fire, and ladders coming down out of the sky, and people being swallowed up by whales ..."

So I'm watching out for everything this sweetl little lady comes out with. I will be releasing the book on the weekend (November 15) and I hope someone else will pick it up and enjoy it.
