Seventeen-year-old Veronica 'Ronnie' Miller's life was turned upside-down when her parents divorced and her father moved from New York City to Wilmington, North Carolina. Three years later, she remains angry and alienated from her parents, especially her father . . . until her mother decides it would be in everyone's best interest if she spent the summer in Wilmington with him. Ronnie's father, a former concert pianist and teacher, is living a quiet life in the beach town, immersed in creating a work of art that will become the centerpiece of a local church.

The tale that unfolds is an unforgettable story about love in its myriad forms - first love, the love between parents and children - that demonstrates, as only a Nicholas Sparks novel can, the many ways that deeply felt relationships can break our hearts . . . and heal them.

Thanks for sending... this arrived on the eve of my departure on holiday, so this slides into the suitcase! I'll send on from the seaside. Happy summer!

Hmm. Somewhere I read that Sparks tends to have a "Christian bent" to his stories, but it seemed to me I'd read some and that wasn't an issue. I should have paid more attention, as that aspect of the story detracted a lot from this book's interest for me. So not my thing, I'm afraid. That aside, I found it an interesting albeit somewhat predictable story, with a slight tear-jerker side. I'm not rushing out to see the film, I'm afraid. I've written to the next in line for the address. Thanks so very much for making this available.

Came home at the weekend to find this book waiting for me :) thanks so much for organising this bookring and thanks penelopwanders for sending to me. My mum (non-bookcrosser) started reading this, as I had opened the parcel and left the book in the kitchen! So when she has finished it, I will get straight onto reading it :)

Finished this book last night! I couldn't sleep so started reading this and then got too near the end for me to stop, so I am feeling very tired today! Thanks very much for sharing, I have wanted to read this book ever since I saw the film. I knew that Nicholas Sparks had written this in order to make the film, and that he knew who was going to play Ronnie, so it read very similar to how the film ran. I did really enjoy reading this book and remembering the things I had forgotten from the film. If you are a fan of chick lit, you will like this book. I did shed a few tears whilst reading it as well...but that may have been because I was tired :) I also liked how there were lots of different levels running alongside each other in this book!

Have PMed the next in line so will get it sent out soon.

Sorry for the delay in saying I'd received this book, it popped through my letter box early last week. Looking forward to reading.

A good easy read especially if you are a fan of girly books/chick-lit. This book is full of love, dreams and is also sad at the same time. At times it made me laugh out loud and others brought tears to my eyes. I would recommend this to any-one to read.
