It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.

Synopsis (Credit: Back cover)

The big, serious, old brown bear was delighted to have so quick a pupil, for the young wolves will only learn as much of the law of the Jungle as applied to their own pack and tribe, and run away as soon as they can repeat the Hunting Verse: 'Feet that make no noise, eyes that can see in the dark, ears that can hear the wind in their lair, and sharp, white teeth.'

(Bought second-hand at Kloof Street Library, Tamboerskloof.)

Definitely a case where the movie was better than the book. Much better.

It was interesting to read the original, though. One forgets that it was published so long ago: 1894. Who would have thought that Bagheera would address Shere Khan as follows:

"Ay, roar well," said Bagheera, under his whiskers; "for the time comes when this naked thing will make thee roar to another tune, or I know nothing of Man."

Mind you, who would have believed that the movie dates back to 1967! Interesting to see how Walt Disney decided to adapt Kipling's book to change the tone and make it a family film — one of the best loved of all times.
