This is written by an old friend of mine, Danielle Sosin. It is her first novel. I haven't seen Danielle in many, many years. We certainly spent a lot of our time together as teenagers. I plan to surprise her this afternoon at the U of M Bookstore where she'll be holding a book signing! Perhaps my youngest son, who is currently a student there will join me! I love Lake Superior and very much look forward to reading her work.

As mentioned above, I did go to Danielle's book reading/signing at Coffman Union. My son and I listened to her read beautifully from these pages. I haven't yet read the book as they've just arrived in time from Amazon. Her mother, Georgette Sosin, a renowned Twin Cities sculptor, was also there but could barely remember me...ah the years. What a nice visit! I'm so happy I went and I very much look forward to reading this lovely novel as well as her book of short stories; Garden Primitives.

Journal Entry 3 by Poobah1 at Lake Elmo, Minnesota USA on Sunday, October 9, 2011
I finished this lovely book today. I read it over my annual "girls" weekend with my SIL and MIL. This year we were in a remote area of Minnesota...Waubun. Can't say that I'd return there but it was nice to have some time away. We've spent time on the North Shore together in the past so I thought it appropriate to crack into this one on our trip.

Danielle's writing voice is superb and I could practically hear her voice as I read it. It's a beautifully told story of three women whose lives only intertwine through Lake Superior. They are from completely different lifetimes; 1622, 1902 and 2000. I'm so happy that I discovered that Danielle had written this and truly enjoyed reading it. I'll keep this copy on my shelf as part of my permanent collection.

Now onto finishing her book of short stories; Garden Primitives. I almost finished both of them this weekend.
