This Book Made A Difference

Book found in laundromat helps young woman

I fell in love with the concept of Bookcrossing the moment I saw it. I know that many new Bookcrossers become frustrated when they "free" their books, and then no one journals that the book has been found. I also became frustrated until a book I left at a local laundromat in June was found by the most appropriate person I could imagine. The journal entry was not entered until 3 months later in September, but I knew immediately that this book captured the spirit of Bookcrossing.

The book was "What to Expect When You Are Expecting." Anyone who has been pregnant in the last ten years is very familiar with this month by month guide to pregnancy and all the changes that come with it. This book was found by a 16 year old who said in her journal entry "i am a very young mother-to-be(16) and i found this book very informative and answered alot of questions i was holding inside" (sic).

I am not a tearful person, but every time I have shared this story I have had tears in my eyes. I can only hope that as we all continue to release our books into the wild, our books will find new owners needing whatever that book may carry with it.
