I found this fair-condition 1968 paperback at the Used Book Superstore. As I adore Sayers' "Lord Peter" books I'm always happy to find another copy to register and release - and in this case I note that one of the very first books I ever BookCrossed was another copy of this title.

My comments on the book:

After trials (including Harriet's own) and tribulations, Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane are safely wed. But - in the best tradition of amateur sleuths everywhere - what do they find in their honeymoon house but a corpse...

Sayers referred to this as "a love story with detective interruptions," so it's not surprising that the book spends most of its time showing Harriet and Peter gingerly working out a common life after having both been fiercely independent for so long. But the mystery isn't neglected either, and the book is full of Sayers' deft touches with character and dialog. (I'm particularly fond of the epistolary opening - letters flying back and forth among major and minor characters, all with their own points of view about the Wimsey-Vane nuptials. The Dowager Duchess' diary is especially amusing.)

Apparently there was a 1940 film adaptation, and a couple of TV-movie versions later on, but none seem to be readily available on video...
