Subject: Artemis Fowl Update

I´ve waited a long time for young criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl to meet his match. Finally, it´s happened.

A second juvenile genius has discovered that fairies do exist, and she is determined to capture one for scientific study. And not just any fairy. The newcomer intends to trap a demon - the most human hation species unknown to man.
But there are more than two players in this deadly game. Holly Short has been enlisted by Section 8, a covert division of the Lower Elements Police, to find out just what her old accomplice Artemis is up to. And there is also a mysterious assassin, Billy Kong, who will stop at nothing to get his revenge.
Only an ancient time spell separates the demons from mankind - and Artemis must prevent it from unravelling. If he fails, the bloodthirsty tribe will relaunch their quest to wipe every human from the planet. Because that´s what demons live to do.
There can be one winner - and this time it might not be Artemis Fowl.
Take nothing for granted.
Your time-travelling correspondent,
Eoin Colfer

My impression of the book:
As good as the others, though this time I see some problems with having another sequel... Well you never know what authers will come up with - I had the same worries at the end of part three...

This was really thrilling! I liked it better than the other four books, maybe because it was the first one I read in English. And I think there are enough possibilities for a sequel (including Minerva :-)).

yippieh, just finished the Arctic Incident and already have part 5 in my Packstation. It seems that the Fowls won't end :-)

Set aside the end - 3 years later, the parents know everything and Butler and Minerva are good friends meanwhile... is there any deeper sense that I can't see? - I absolutely loved this book. And I had some sleepless nights *yawn* because I simply didn't want to stop reading.
Sometimes I thought "How the heck could you translate that???" So I'm very curious reading the German translation some day... if I get bored ;-)

Again, I didn't solve the code ;-) Maybe the following readers want to.
We had to change the order due to the little "problem" that Lakritzschnecke had just finished book 1 and prefers to have some more time until she gets buried under pixies, demons and warlocks. So I'm jumping to ParadizeApple, who already knows 1-3.

Arrived safely today. Thanks for sending! We will wait with reading until the previous volumes have arrived.

Update 07.07.08: A nice book and better than the last volume. Although it did not catch me as much as the first ones. I liked the idea of Artemis in puberty and bringing a female genius into the story. But I found Minervas family life a bit unbelievable - maybe also because you did not really get a look at it. I liked N°1 and the whole demon story. But the ending left many things open.
Thanks for sharing the book! I actually liked all volumes a lot and they are quick and easy to read.

The book arrived here yesterday and I finished it this morning - a quick read full of fairies and demons and TWO juvenile criminal masterminds that had me laughing out loud several times. Thanks for the fun read (in a gorgeous sparkling cover, of course!)
