Amazon Review:
A German Shepherd police dog witnesses a murder and if his owner--an Iraq war vet and former cop-turned-thief--is convicted of the crime, the dog could be put down. Few rival Andy Carpenter's affection for dogs, and he decides to represent the poor canine. As Andy struggles to convince a judge that this dog should be set free, he discovers that the dog and his owner have become involved unwittingly in a case of much greater proportions than the one they've been charged with. Andy will have to call upon the unique abilities of this ex-police dog to help solve the crime and prevent a catastrophic event from taking place.

If you aren't familiar with Bookcrossing, take a few minutes to check out this very cool site. Bookcrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a journal entry -- you can say where you found the book or how you liked it when you read it. Then, when you are ready, pass it along for someone else to enjoy! Thanks and happy reading!

I took this from the Wild Thing book box. Thanks!
This is terrific detective fiction. It is written in a James Patterson type style with short 3 to 4 page chapters, but it is consistently intelligent, funny and engaging. And it has dogs!
Andy is a lawyer with a lot of money, a great sense of humor and a lazy streak. He would prefer not to work but when he gets called about a dog being kept under 24 hour guard in a small run he decides to take the case. His client's name is Milo and he was involved in a crime in which a murder was committed. Milo stole an envelope, on command of his owner Billy, as that envelope was being handed over from one man to another. One of those men was then shot, Milo has disappeared with the envelope and Billy is left at the crime scene to try to help the victim and wait for the police. Suspicion falls on Billy and he is arrested for the killing. Milo is found, but not the envelope. It seems the envelope may have contained something of value, enough to kill for.
Andy, who loves dogs, is asked by one of his friends to help get Milo free from his cage and guards. Andy takes Milo's case, but what should be done about the case for Billy who is sitting in jail accused of murder?
This story is charming and very funny. I am going to keep my eye out for other David Rosenfelt books.
