A romance set during the 1951 Miners Strike in the Waikato. I enjoyed finding out about a piece of NZ history I was quite ignorant about.

This book interests me because as a "foreigner" I would like to read more NZ literature to learn about the history and people.
This book interests me because as a "foreigner" I would like to read more NZ literature to learn about the history and people.
The story is a bit too romantic to my liking but the setting made it quite interesting. The descriptions of the hard life of the men and their families in a Waikato coalmining town during the workers' strike are vivid. The photo on the front cover is of the real Pukemiro Coal mine.
Will pass this book on to a friend who will certainly like it.
