From Bookmooch, to be read and added to Latin American bookbox.

Journalist goes in search of the truth behind his uncle's murder in the Dominican Republic. Not an easy task as the republic is still under severe repression and no one wants to speak out about what looks like a murder carried out by the military.
MacKinnon's uncle, Padre Arturo, was working as a priest in a Canadian mission on the island, a popular figure with the locals, but not with the regime.
The book gives us an insight into the politics and bloody past of the Dominican Republic while MacKinnon carries out his research. The family connection spurs him on when many others would have given up in the face of so many obstacles and such blatant misdirection, not to mention the fact most of his research was done in Spanish. The end of the book comes with a sense of relief, of closure.

Change of plan, will be in an Oceania and Islands themed bookbox.
