From an Amazon Reviewer;

This is probably one of the best books I have ever read. This Child was told she was unwanted by her mother and that she was ugly. What a dreadful statement. We are what God makes us. Yet she survived. From a very early age she got a partime job and provided for herself, alone in a house. Even had to pay her mother rent. The strong character that jumps out from every page is fantastic. She didn`t even know her proper name until she was ready to go to university. Constance Briscoe is now a barrister. There is a photograph of her, inside the back cover, and she is beautiful. What a great person. Good luck to her.

An amazing story about a life of abuse. I sometimes couldn't put it down, but at other times it depressed me too much and I had to put it aside for a while. It is incredible the resilience of this child/woman. I don't think I would have been able to take as much as she did.
I looked her up on the Internet and found out that her mother sued her!

I have received the book but need more time to read it as I have some other books to be read first (and more for the literature courses that I am studying now!). I apologize for the delay in advance. Thank you for sharing as I like to read stories based on real-life and stories as such often give me a sense of empowerment, especially when I feel down.

Need more time.. I am sorry for the delay. I will mail the book to the next reader by the end of 2009!

Constance's fight for her own life and dignity is well presented in the book. However, certain occurences are somewhat repetitive throughout the book. Overall, it is a well-documented story of a young girl's journey to get hold of her own life. A very good source of inspiration and encouragement to readers. Couldn't put it down.

Thanks for sharing. The book was already sent to Bug2004.
