Women on BC voted Ranger the sexiest man in books today and I think Joe Morelli was second. Stephanie has her hands full. Read it and see what all the excitement is about.
Snatched this up at the BC Meet-Up in Little Italy, San Diego yesterday. I haven't read any Stephanie Plum Novels yet, but I'm on Rays for books 1-3. Since I like to read series in order, 'Hard Eight' has to wait a little longer until I get to it. :-)
Thanks for giving me this book, bookscout!
From amazon:
"In Hard Eight, Stephanie Plum picks up a case a little nastier than anything the wisecracking bounty hunter's seen before. Evelyn Soder and her young daughter have gone on the run, leaving an angry ex-husband who's planning to collect on a child custody bond that will leave Evelyn's grandmother homeless. Stephanie's first clue that there's more to it than that comes in the form of Eddie Abruzzi, a shady local businessman who warns her to butt out of the case. Stephanie doesn't scare easily, but when Abruzzi's henchmen leave a bag of snakes on her doorknob and tarantulas in her car, she has no choice but to call Ranger, the hunky man of mystery whom she already owes too many favors. Steph knows that Ranger will soon be calling in his marker, but with her ex- fiancé Joe Morelli out of the picture, that should be OK--shouldn't it? In the meantime, she's got other fugitives to catch, aided by the usual band of misfits, plus a bumbling correspondence-school lawyer who's developed the hots for Stephanie's sister, Valerie. And Steph's in for a surprise from her mother, who proves she's not above wielding a dangerous weapon to save her daughter's life."

Stephanie is fab as always....and getting so hot with Ranger! I'm glad to see them getting closer - Morelli expects her to be too straight edge, whereas Ranger is way more her lifestyle...
I'll be holding on to this for a while until it is ready to travel the spiral!

It's here. Yea. Will start it soon. Thanks Bree
Ok, Stephanie is getting a little predictable, but still an enjoyable read. Albert is a funny addition. I like Morelli though. Maybe I''ll get more from him next book. This one will be sent on, along with Visions of Sugar Plums as soon as seven moves.
Off to aberpeter today. PO Confirmation 0307 0020 0004 8364 5747
Yes!! Stephanie Plum was sitting in my mail box today. I cannot wait to see what she's been up to.
Janet Evanovich sure wasn't Kloughn-ing around when she wrote this book (I know, it's a bad pun, but I couldn't resist).
Hard Eight just wasn't as exciting to me as the last three or four novels were. I missed Mooner, and Grandma wasn't even all that exciting in this book. I thought Klough would have been a fun addition, but by the middle of the novel he was just another character Stephanie knows.
I will be starting Visions of Sugar Plums soon. Hopefully that will renew my love for this series.

After carrying the book around with me for a few days I was finally able to stop at the post office today. The book is on its way to Candy-is-Dandy.

Not my fave of the series so far. I got a little fed up with the number of cars 'taken out' in this book - oh, there goes another one - with Stephanie pretty much stratch-free. I stilll love the characters - Lula, Morelli, the elderly people in Stehpanie's apartment block and her family particularly, but what's with the rabbit??
Just to let you know that I find Morelli more appealing than Ranger - I'm sure he would terrify me!!
This is now off to celticstar with Visions of Sugar Plums - not sent due to lack of response to PMs and still holding on to previous books.

I am taking this spiral over from Breeze144, it's gotten too much for her to do. So I am the new host. Does the last person who journaled still have this book? If so, please let me know. Just hold onto it until I try and get things straightened out/figured out. Are you still interested in any of the other books in this spiral? If so let me know that. I'm going to try and contact the rest of the people and if I don't hear back from them I will skip them from the spiral. Thanks for your help! Please e-mail me: [email protected]

Update: This book has now been mailed to magika in Norway.
Stephanie found her way to my mailbox today! I'll start this one as soon as I've finished my current read.
Yet another fun read about our fave bounty hunter. I think candy-is-dandy and myself are in the minority in preferring Morelli to Ranger - Stephanie needs to make up her mind soon, or the whole thing will get old. Kloughn was a nice addition to the cast, but I'm not too fond of sister Valerie. And a book (almost) without Big Blue, how can that be?
Sent to Bibliocrates just before Christmas.
Sent to Bibliocrates just before Christmas.
It's here! Arrived on 12/27/08 I believe. Thanks for sending it.
I'm enjoying these books more and more...
In Hard Eight, Stephanie keeps losing handcuffs trying to bring in a FTA, Andy Bender, with help from a lawyer clown, Albert K-l-o-u-g-h-n, who looks like the Pillsbury Doughboy, her sister Valerie is depressed, she loses not only one car, but three, no thanks to a masturbating bunny, Bill Clinton, Richard Nixon, and their boss, Abruzzi, who thinks he's Napoleon, continually terrorizing her with his war games over a missing child and a valuable medal, and... AND she finally does it with Ranger after seven books worth of built up sexual tension. Phew! How could anyone not enjoy that? I may be in the minority among Plum fans, but this one was the most fun so far, a bit over the top, sure, but very fun! I'm not yet sure who I like better -Morelli- or -Ranger- but I agree that Stephanie needs to make up her mind. It's adorable that Kloughn is sweet on Valerie. They should get together. Visions of Sugar Plums, here I come, back to the Burg...

Received as part of a bookspiral yesterday. I have a couple in front and then I'll visit the burg.
Another enjoyable romp with Stephanie. I too like Morelli better but Ranger sure adds some danger to the mix.
I'm going to read To The Nines (which came as a partner to Hard Eight) and send them both on to the next reader.
