The first book of the Narnia saga (though it was written after The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) - I bought this to find out whether I liked it, and I bought the full set of 6 Narnia books afterwards.
Nice and quick reading reminding me of The Hobbit... Funny though that most people here in Switzerland never before heard of Narnia!
