Not sure how I feel about this book. It was well written but not really my type of book. I suppose with a lot of couples it was just too depressingly true to life. Michael & Pauline were like two sides of a magnet and I did not find them particularly sympathetic people either. Michael was a bit standoffish and rather prudish and Pauline was irritating, a little too gushing although she did sometimes show a good heart. The story follows the mismatched couple through 30 odd years of a marriage that wasn't exactly made in heaven!
