Extended Profile
I like to read all sorts of books, although my favourite genre are the crime/thrillers and suspense especially Nicci French, Harlan Coben, Lee Child and Val McDermid. I'm also keen on (auto)/biographies/non-fiction, especially on people who have lead interesting
lives, but not necessarily anyone famous or in the public eye!
Some of my books will be available for trade when read (apart from the hardbacks) and some of the TBRs may go into my private collection although I doubt there will be too many more of those. Some, on a whim, will also be RABCKs, but I would prefer to wild
release when I can.
I also acquired a Kindle for Christmas 2010 which means I will be unable to register, journal and release anything I read from it but for my own records I will keep a note of them in my reading statistics per month. It will not deter me from completely giving
up on real books as nothing beats the smell, feel and look of a proper book in your hand or admiring a collection of books on a bookshelf. The Kindle will just be an accessory (handy to take on holidays without suitcases being loaded down with tons of books!)
as opposed to a replacement.
I didn't quite keep to my resolution of 2010 to read all the books picked up from bookcrossing meet ups but I did make some inroads into my older TBRs.
My resolution for 2011 was to finish reading all the books stashed away in two of my bedroom drawers to make room for my collection of handbags, although I have a feeling this was a resolution of 2009 I was unable to complete, and also to read all those long
ago purchased books and books picked up at meet-ups, and try to keep away from reading the newer publications I am always being drawn to first!
UPDATE:
I finally managed to read all the books crammed in my chest of drawers and clear some space on the bookshelves too (for my Wii exercise CDs!) but it still didn't deter me from buying new books or downloading books on my kindle. Not quite finished reading all
the books received from meet-ups but I am getting there! My resolution for 2012 is to drastically reduce my paperback collection but I think I have only about another 280 of them to go (at the last count). That doesn't include my hardbacks, kindle reads, Ibook
reads and FreeBook app reads. I hope I live a long time!!!!!
