The book is so different than the movie. They really altered a lot of the original story when they made the movie with Jennifer Love Hewitt.
The guy Julie goes out with in the book is described as being older and then it says that he was in the Vietnam war, which I found surprising because I hadn't imagined someone *that* older but then I had to remind myself that the book was wrtten in 1973 ;o) !
A younger friend of mine who doesn't read that much herself borrowed this book from me and read it in like a day (which is a record) she especially liked glamerous Helen and Barry and the parts that described Helen's place. So I think that this book even though it is fairly old is still a good read for teens!

This book has arrived in Kaiserslautern, GERMANY!

This book came to me in Geegal's All English Kids/Teen Lit Bookbox. When I get a bookbox I like to journal all of the books that are in it so I can track their future travels. I think that it is very interesting to know where all the books have been as they travel about through the postal system and into the hands of bookcrossers from all over.

I will continue with why I did not choose this book out of the box:

First I will say that I have only seen parts of the movie and it just didn't do all that much for me. Now that I know the basic plot I just don't think that the book will be all that great for me either. I do occasionally like a good thriller but generally speaking I have to say that they are not my favorites. I like cozy, cuddly happy stories much better.

Back in the box it goes! I hope that it finds a reader that will welcome it.

When I got the last bookbox I decided that I needed to record the entire journey of each book in the box and that includes it passing through my hands. I mean how else would one know that the book has been all the way to Germany and how do I know whatever became of the poor books that I didn't choose? I have my reasons for choosing or not choosing a book but maybe it is "just the book" for someone else and that it was fate that I passed it up.

I am journaling each of the books and I will be releasing them to the bookbox which has been a very useful practice in several of the other bookboxes I have participated in.
