Journal Entry 1 by Geegal on Sunday, December 18, 2005

This book has not been rated.

Welcome to my All English Kids and Teen Lit Bookbox!

I am especially happy that I have so many books from all different kind of English-speaking countries, e.g. Great Britain, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand.

Special Thanks to: crrcookie, lauraloo29, tabby-cat-owner, Pinkagirl, holle77, xallroyx, hunnyb, stephen-1702, Fritos, Annadlx, Breeze144

I hope everyone will find something good to read in here. Thanks for participating!

For those of you who are not sure if you'd like to join. If you are interested in reading a book in English for a change and think that most books are too difficult to read I can totally recommend reading books aimed at a younger readership. I will try to add some teen thrillers that are anything but boring and yet easy to understand!

Rules for this Bookbox:
1. Please journal the box when you receive it. The BCID of this bookbox will be provided on an extra sheet that will travel in the box.
2. Take as many books as you want and please list the books you take out in your journal entry here in addition to the usual journaling of each individual book.
3. Add your own books in the same amount as you took out before. You may add additional books if you want as long as they meet the box requirements.
4. Please PM the next person on the participant list for their address. Only wait up to a week for an answer, let me know and go on to the next person so the box can move on quickly.
5. Please don't keep the Bookbox longer than 1 week. Taking out and replacing books shouldn't take too long, right? :o)

A few notes about new books you might want to add:
All books have to be registered on bookcrossing.com.
The reading level for books in this box should be between 9 to 16. No picture books please! And if you are not sure about the reading level of your books, you might be able to check them out on amazon.com.
Please try to avoid too many books of long running serials such as "Sweet Valley High", "Babysitter Club", "Sabrina", "Mary Kate & Ashley" etc. Serials such as "The Princess Diaries", "Anne of Green Gables", "Lemony Snicket" are totally ok!
Please don't add any typical school literature such as "The Catcher in the Rye", "Lord of the Flies" etc.! Now I have nothing against these titles but, as I'm sure many of us have already read them, they are not interesting enough for the Bookbox.
And please don't add any Penguin/Wordsworth Classics such as "Little Women, "Oliver Twist", "Peter Pan", "Huckleberry Fin" etc!
Please don't add one of those German-English books like "I like you, und du?" by Dietmar Rösler and Emer O'Sullivan or "Prinz William, Maximilian Minsky und ich" by Holly-Jane Rahlens as the books may only contain truly English books.
The publication dates of books for this box may certainly be older, however please make sure that they were not printed 20 years ago.

Regeln dieser Buchbox:

Bitte keine alte Schullektüre wie "The Catcher in the Rye", "Lord of the Flies" etc.!
Bitte außerdem keine Penguin/Wordsworth Classics wie "Little Women", "Oliver Twist", "Peter Pan", "Huckleberry Fin"!

RELEASE NOTES:

The bookbox will travel to crrcookie! I hope the rest of the books will arrive soon, too!

Journal Entry 4 by wingcrrcookiewing from Tecumseh, Oklahoma USA on Wednesday, February 08, 2006

This book has not been rated.

This bookbox has now arrived in Kaiserslautern, GERMANY!

I am excited to be a part of this and I look forward to getting to browse through the box and add in all the books that have traveled to me from the USA/Canada for this project.

Since BookCrossing is all about tracking books, I will be journaling each of the books in the box and choosing to either leave them in the box or take them out and read them. I feel that it is an important part of the book's history to know the stops along the trail and who might have passed the book along. However, I know that not everyone share my feelings on this. So journaling every book is certainly not required. And it is not my bookbox so I wouldn't get to say what is required anyways.

I am adding one more thing to the box. A journal that I have tagged with this BCID. I just feel that I should not have things that are not books on my BookCrossing shelf. I also think that it will be a nice keepsake for Geegal when the box returns. Feel free to add comments, pictures, stickers and other things in the journal. I'll be adding some things so be sure and look for them.

I anticipate being able to send this box back out in the mail by Monday. I try to only go to the post office a couple times a week.

Journal Entry 7 by -Tinkerbell- from Wiesbaden, Hessen Germany on Sunday, March 12, 2006

This book has not been rated.

Sorry that it took so long... I was very busy. Here's my list:

I took out:

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis and
The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

An these books are now in the box:

Molly Moon stops the world by Georgia Byng
Naked Brunch by Sparkle Hayter

I'm still waiting for the address of nikel27, when I get it I will send the box immediately to her/him.

The box was not that interesting for me because there were some books inside that don't look very pleasing (title or cover or blurb) or for others my English was not good enough to understand them. The two books I took out are books of films I already know and so I think I can read and understand them without problems. The books I added are RABCKs from my mother Heydie and I will buy them again, because I want to read them too.

Thanks to Geegal for this box and to all participants: Enjoy it!!!

Journal Entry 12 by Daine from Bremen, Bremen Germany on Tuesday, August 15, 2006

This book has not been rated.

Ok, found 6 interesting looking books, and will add 5 new ones (otherwise the box may burst...)

Out:
Avi, Blue Heron (I liked "Poppy" very much)
Kathy Lette, Puberty Blues (Yes, I took it out because of the title *g*)
Ibbotson, The Secret of Platform 13 (I want to add another Ibbotson book to the box, and I haven´t read this one, 2 good reasons...)
So You Think You know Harry Potter? (I´m curious how much I know...)
Goosebumps, Return of The Mummy
Goosebumps, Go Eat Worms (I never read them in german, but maybe learning english is a good reason to have a look at them *g*)

In:
Toews, A Complicated Kindness (As the girl in the book is sixteen and the german tranlation is published as "Jugendbuch" I think it fits the description of the box, it´s not an easy but but a great reading)
Stroud, The Amulett of Samarkand (Bartimaeus - king of footnotes *g* and first book in the series...)
Colfer, Artemis Fowl (Another first one...)
Ibbotson, Dial-A-Ghost (not scary, but really funny!)
Press, The Black Hand Gang ant Mysterious House (very short chapters and with the important vocabulary on each page)
