Gave this to my daughter, jenvince, to read and then release when she's done.
Got this from my dad, fortiesfan.
On a spring day in April--sometime in the waning years of the 14th century--29 travelers set out for Canterbury on a pilgrimage to the shrine of Saint Thomas Beckett. Among them is a knight, a monk, a prioress, a plowman, a miller, a merchant, a clerk, and an oft-widowed wife from Bath. Travel is arduous and wearing; to maintain their spirits, this band of pilgrims entertains each other with a series of tall tales that span the spectrum of literary genres.

Received book last night in the mail and have already started will journal more once I have finished.
Although I was very interested in the book when I began to read it and found it interesting, my interest just slowly ran out of steam part way through the book. I ended up not really enjoying the book very much, but hey I guess you can't love everything you read. Will be sending along to Zarylia as soon as I get the address.
Sent book last night to Zarylia. Happy travelling!
Paynesville/MN/USA - Just got back to Minnesota yesterday and discovered this in the mail! Thanks Arwen-Galdriel and jenvince for getting it to me. I'll start reading it tomorrow!
Paynesville/MN/USA - I would have to agree with Arwen-Galadriel, I was very interested in the beginning but now, after 2 long weeks, I've only reached the middle and my interest is beginning to wane. It can be kind of funny at times though. For instance in the prologue when Chaucer is describing everyone and, with complete casualness, remarks that one of the company may be a pirate. I love all of his calm and disinterested observations and think they're rather funny. I can imagine him sitting there goin, "Hmmm...he might be a pirate." and then going back to whatever he was doing. ;-D This book has also inspired me to read up on my ancient history and mythology; I was always interested but all the allusions in the 'tales' have piqued my interest again. However...in the interest of keeping the book moving I won't be finishing it and instead will be passing the book on to bookgal23 soon and saving the other tales for a later date.
Many thanks to jenvince for starting this ring! :-D
Many thanks to jenvince for starting this ring! :-D
Paynesville/MN/USA - Sorry! This book was sent off to bookgal23 on NY on the June 30th (thank goodness for postal receipts!), and I just forgot to journal it. I'm very sorry, but the book is on its way and will hopefully arrive soon!
I received this book yesterday and will get to it as soon as I can as I have two other bookray/ring books ahead of it. I'm looking forward to reading these tales and thanks for getting the book to me.
I've realized that I probably won't get around to reading this book as I have many others that are taking priority over it. I will PM snowmyst for her address to keep the ring moving. Thanks for sharing, though.
After quite a long time, I will finally be sending this book to surfenkitten tomorrow. I apologize for the delay!
i've actually got my own copy of this! seems i didn't get to jenvince in time before the book was mailed...i'll send it on soon!
Received this book in the mail today (GraceTX is *catching* it for me). I'm in the U.K. right now so I'll read it when she forwards it to me.
Interesting, hard-going and rewarding all at the same time. Several tales I found I had no interest in, but usually the very next one I found worth reading.
I have faramir10's address, but I doubt I'll have chance to send this until after New Year's.

Recieved from JonAzrael in the mail. Thanks.
Sent to Jenvince this morning. She is the last stop for this bookring which means this ring is complete.
This bookring has made it home! Wow! Thank you to everyone who participated. This has been traveling for 9 1/2 months and went all over the States, with stops in Canada and the UK. How fun!
Received today. THank you so much for sending me this all the way from America, Zarylia. That was so kind of you. Looking forward to reading it, even though I can see that the journals aren't so favourable. Maybe going to Canterbury soon will help my enthusiasm/stamina...?
