Description: From David Bell—bestselling author of Bring Her Home and Cemetery Girl—comes a chilling novel of guilt, regret, and a past which refuses to die...

Three months earlier, Jenna Barton was supposed to meet her lifelong best friend Celia. But when Jenna arrived late, she found that Celia had disappeared—and hasn’t been seen again. Jenna has blamed herself for her friend’s disappearance every single day since then.

The only piece of evidence is a lone diamond earring found where Celia and Jenna were planning to meet, leading the national media to dub Celia “The Diamond Mom.” And even though Jenna has obsessively surfed message boards devoted to missing persons cases, she is no closer to finding any answers—or easing her guilt.

But when her son’s new girlfriend—who suddenly arrived in town without a past—disappears, a stricken Jenna begins to unwind the tangled truth behind Celia’s tragedy. And as long-buried secrets finally come to light, she discovers how completely lives can be shattered by a few simple lies.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

I love this author's mystery/thrillers. They keep me guessing all the time. When I spotted this copy at a local store, I made the purchase without hesitation to share it with a friend.

4Jul17 Update: I finished my copy of this title. Here are my thoughts: Like all David Bell books, this story grabbed me from the first page. I don’t want to be a spoiler and you can read the cover to find out what the story is about without me restating it. So, with that in mind, the story is a page turner. David Bell knows how to tell a tale! With each turn of the page revealing a little bit more of what is happening, you find yourself immersed in the story like you were in there while its happening. I love that. As the characters reveal bits and pieces of themselves and secrets come out, you find yourself surprised. But, dear reader, the ending I never saw coming. Neither will you. You have to read this book. Such a well-woven mystery that I think you will be adding David Bell to your list of must-read authors as I have.

I've been in the mood for suspense lately, so was glad to have this David Bell novel. It kept me reading, but it was so far-fetched. (I am much too realistic.) Still, I wanted to know what happened to Celia, so I kept reading. And like dvg, I didn't see the plot twist coming.
