RJ hates farming and spends his evening drinking and trying to learn to play the guitar. But one day, drunk and wandering home to his pregnant wife, he tries the old myth that playing in the crossroads will call up the devil and he'll teach you to play. He doesn't think anything of it immediately afterwards, but it the start of a whole new life for him, with both wonderful and horrifying events in his future.
I thought the idea of this comic was great, but the execution was a shaky. The art is very good, rather old-school with the heavy cross-hatching, fine pen work, crisp, classic panel layout and detailed environments setting up each scene. Unfortunately, the plot was all over the map and not-infrequently incoherent. I frequently found myself turning back a few pages and re-reading, trying to figure out if I'd missed something. Usually I hadn't. I'm not sure if this is a bad translation or if the original was so disjointed, but it was frustrating to have something that looks so good on the surface be so wonky once you dive in.
