Station 16

I ordered this slim hardcover after reading an online review. It's set in a long-abandoned station in the Russian Arctic, and in addition to the harsh surroundings seems to involve a mysterious time-traveler...
There's a good, creepy feel to this one, with the hapless group of Russian soldiers growing more and more distraught as the weirdness escalates. And it's interesting to go back and re-read the book after learning how it turns out, to look for the clues in earlier frames - though that can get frustrating too, as the plot's a bit mind-bendy!
I don't know if there are any plans to film this one, but it could make a wonderfully atmospheric horror film in the right hands.

I'm adding this to the Otherworldly bookbox, which will be on its way to its next stop soon!
I've been learning to appreciate graphic novels, and this one looks intriguing. So out of the box it comes to spend some time in SLC.
Got to agree with Gory, this would make " a wonderfully atmospheric horror film in the right hands. " (italics mine)
SF-wise, there's nothing new or unique to the time travel, and at times some of the "what's coming'' are predictable. That said, the locale is a nice twist, the art is wholly appropriate, and imo, it is the well-done graphics that ramp up the creep factor. Creepy indeed, and that builds....
Thanks for offering this, GoryDetails. I'm very glad I took a chance on it :)

Adding to lane 1088's SF bookbox.
This book came back to me in the SF bookbox, and I decided to claim it to release elsewhere.
From bookbox to bookbox: I'm putting this book in the manga/graphic novel bookbox, which will be on its way to its next stop soon. Enjoy!
Taken from the manga box.
I agree with the earlier reviewers that, although this may not be breaking new ground, the excellent execution makes it effectively creepy. In some ways, the genre-savvy reader starting to work out what is happening before the increasingly panicked main character adds to the tension. We start to anticipate that he is making bad decisions, but honestly, there aren't too many good options!
Sent to the decoy of the Manga/GN Sweepstakes. Sorry for the delay getting them in the mail!
Received today!
Is going to the winner of manga sweeps. Congrats!

Thank you so much Lamilla, the book arrived safely today and I can't wait to start it. It looks very different from other graphic novels I have read.
I read this book yesterday during the Dewey 24 hour readathon. It made a welcome break between other novels.
I passed it to my brother who also read it yesterday.
I have another friend I think may appreciate it before I set it travelling again.
