Journal Entry 2 by ardachy at Bookcrossing Convention 2015 in Oxford, Oxfordshire United Kingdom on Sunday, March 8, 2015
My mother talked about this book a couple of weeks ago and recommended it to me, and only a few days later I saw that it was released at the convention.
I didn't attend the convention myself, but a bc-friend picked it up for me, brought it to Sweden and mailed it to me. It arrived today. Many thanks hingrald! :)

Oh! This book was so painful to read. It is very well written and the details of how people treated each other under the Nazi regime in Germany during the 1930s and 1940s is almost unbearable to read at times. Yes, it is a work of fiction, but it's inspired by real cases the author was able to read about in the authentic Gestapo files shortly after the war ended. Also the author lived in Germany during the Nazi regime and so experienced and witnessed what it was like.
This story had a very strong impact on me; one of the profound emotional reading experiences I've ever had.
