Legend Of Sleepy Hollow & Rip Van Winkle
2 journalers for this copy...
I found this fair-condition softcover on the charity-sale bookshelves in a local Hannaford's, and nabbed it for another release copy. It contains two of Irving's best-known stories: "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," Irving's amusing tale of an over-proud schoolmaster and his ghostly-or-is-it comeuppance, and "Rip Van Winkle," with its lackadaisical hero who takes the concept of "sleepy" hollow a bit too far!
[There's a TV Tropes page on the first story, with mention of several of the screen adaptations it's inspired - some of them faithful, most of them... not so much! And "Rip van Winkle" inspired some films, too, including some amazingly early ones, such as this 1896 snippet.]

I am 11 years old. I just found this book in the Benson's Park Little Free Library in Hudson, NH. I look forward to reading it as I enjoy classics. I am travelling to NYC next week, and plan to read it on the ride. I will leave a little bit of Boston in the Big Apple and find a Little Free Library there and I look forward to watching to see who else finds this book.
