From the back cover:
The moment young Ivan stumbled upon a clearing in the dense Carpathian forest, his life was forever changed. Atop a pedestal encircled by falled leaves, the beautiful princess Katerina lay as still as death--while a malevolent presence stirred in the hidden depths below.

Now, years later, Ivan is compelled to return. He finds the clearing just as he left it. This time he does not run.

It took me a little while to get into this book, but once I did, I really enjoyed it. I really liked seeing Ivan and Katerina try to adjust to each other's words.

I received this today along with Armageddon Summer. It looks wonderful; I'm a sucker for anything fairy-taleish! The card is absolutely beautiful as well. I'm a huge fan of Amy Brown's work. Thanks so much karendawn!

Absolutely lovely book. I would agree that at the begninng it was hard to get into, but it turned out to be worth every minute. The way the story was told was beautiful, though sometimes graphic, and watching Ivan and Katerina get used to each other's way of thinking was funny, though sometimes aggravating. ;-P There were many times that I laughed at a description of something Slavic because, living in Poland I can attest to the truth of most of it! Sofia's speech when Ivan arrives on her doorstep - 1 shirt + 1 girl is hilarious also. Anyway, many thanks for sending me the book karendawn! I'll most likely be passing this around to two of my bookcrossing friends with a similar affinity for fairy tales. Thanks again! :-D

Zarylia is lending this book to me (she really wants it back). So, whenever I find time to read a book that doesn't need to be sent off as soon as it is read, I will read it. It looks wonderful.

I do not believe that Orson Card could have found a better title than ENCHANTMENT for this book. Unlike karendawn and Zarylia, I was ensorceled from the Very beginning. It probably was not wise for me to start it at a time when my every waking minute is demanded by more pressing matters than just a Really Good Book (that is logic that can very well be disputed, however). Many a psych class was ignored to read Just One More Page. It was funny because I had just lent the last (and the best) book in the Mediator series (by Meg Cabot) to my friend Kayla who sits next to me in class, and both of us were desperately trying to hide our books from the eyes of our pysch teacher. It worked, by the way. Most of the time at least. He was preoccupied with making up words to baffle his students with. But anyway . . . The book was Brilliant. I have never read into any Slavic fairy tales before, and the mix of magic and reality, at the hands of Orson Scott Card, was really very Enchanting.

Czersk returned this to me a couple of weeks ago, and it is now sitting on my shelf awaiting another reader, or perhaps for me to read it again. :-D
