I bought this book at the Media-Upper Providence Library book sale last month.

In this Newbery Honor Book, 12 year old Catherine longs for a more "normal" life. She's created many rules to help her 8 year old autistic brother David learn how to behave...like "no toys in the fish tank" and "You can yell on a playground, but not during dinner". It's a touching story about the challenges of new friendships in the light of disabilities. Definitely worth a read.

abxc-5/11; well written book about a girl who's brother is autistic. She just wants to break away and pretend she doesn’t know him. Then she meets Jason, an intelligent boy, trapped in a wheelchair and mute. She starts talking to him and adding to his communication book - and finds that people with disabilities aren't so different after all

Traveling soon in the abc bookbox
