Self adhesive clear book covering is perfect. Just cut a piece off enough to cover the sticker. Works well to protect other BookCrosser labels too.

Go to a busy park, put a book on a bench, go sit on another bench and watch what happens. People act as if they are stealing....eyes looking all over the place before they pocket it! Nice way to spend a sunny afternoon.
