I am rather envious, also! I agree that American Gods is fantastic. I've also enjoyed Anansi Boys, Stardust and Coraline. I'll be working on Neverwhere shortly.

My excuse is "What if I don't have enough money to buy books later?" I have money now - why not spend it on something that is productive? Who cares if it takes me 2 or 3 years to get around to reading it? LOL.

Oooooo- me too - if you like that you'll love Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer - exellent vampire books geared towards teens :)
Also, the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld is exellent!

The "Bone" series by Jeff Smith
and the "Sandman" series by Neil Gaiman.
Graphic novels are an extremely under-rated genre.
