It's here: the new Book Search
June 21, 2024
Dear BookCrossers,
Today is a good day! Because today is the day that we get to announce the arrival of a large improvement to the Book Search feature. As you know, that feature is what we use while registering books but also while adding covers to the books on our shelves. And it's not been working well.
Recently only Google Books has been available as a search option, and most of the time it's not been usable. But as of now, the
new and default option of searching in our own vast database has been added.
Matt has been processing the contents of that database for weeks, cleaning it up; you will however still find some oddities in book titles such as 'Bookring'. Those can be edited out during the actual registration.
You should notice speedy results, and more results than ever. Over the past 20 years, we've registered so many old and obscure books, and books in many languages. Now all those books are available in our own database.
So go ahead and take it for a spin. And if you like it, you know who to say thank you to! The topic where you can do so is here.
