Our New Partnership: Reaching Readers Everywhere!

February 16, 2005
It goes without saying that BookCrossers are passionate about reading. As a BookCrosser, you understand the constant challenge to find shelf space for all your beloved books! We can’t throw them out because they still educate, entertain, and amaze us, but for most of sub-Saharan Africa, such a choice of reading material is unimaginable.

BookCrossing’s goal is to make the whole world a library. That’s why we’re really proud to announce our partnership with the major international book charity Book Aid International – together we’re sharing a love of reading, and creating a worldwide community of readers.

Did you know that most people in Africa will never own a book? Book Aid International believes everyone should have free and equal access to information. They are working to make this possible in some of the world’s poorest countries. Apart from being incredibly enjoyable, reading, education and learning are essential for a sustainable route out of poverty. Book Aid International supports literacy, education, training and publishing in the developing world through partnership with organisations like libraries, schools, hospitals and refugee camps. BAI is also the the official charity of World Book Day.

We all know that sharing great books with friends is always rewarding, and sharing books with people all over the world is even more exciting. With your help, we can truly open up the world through books.
