In August 2002 I saw a tiny blurb about this site in our daily newspaper, under Thumbs Up or Down. Guess which one BookCrossing got?! I knew it was something I had to check out as my husband and I both love to read so we had a load of books sitting around waiting for a new chance at life.
In February 2003 our newspaper The Times-Colonist ran a nice story on BookCrossing. If you saw it, that was me in the picture releasing Monkey Beach at the beach. :)
I have been going a bit mad with buying books over the past few months. I now realize that it will take years to read all the books I've purchased, so I shall try very hard not to buy any huge amount of new books for the next while. Hmm, I still have three BIG boxes of books I haven't even registered! I won't register them yet, as I like to keep my stats at a ratio of at least half my registered books having been released. Note: While I still want to keep to that plan most of the time, I am doing a bunch of registering right now as part of the BC Convention/Anniversary Challenge. To come is a load of wild releases, which hopefully will bring my numbers back into balance. :)
My book shelf includes books my husband and I have read, as well as books given to me and purchased for release.
