I have been a book lover since I learned how to read! My summer vacations were spent riding my bike (with a large basket!) back and forth to the library, or with my nose stuck in the books I got there.
My love of reading continued well into adulthood, but for a while I got caught up in the everyday life of a mother, not thinking I had time for such things as relaxing with a book. I was in my selfless stage...giving giving giving to everyone but myself.
Thankfully one day I smacked myself in the head and said to myself..."Wait a minute! You think you can't FIND time in the day to read? Nonsense! MAKE the time!" And so I did. This was about 18 months ago and I am making up for lost time.
I've read about 40 books so far this year. I started keeping track of them at the beginning of this year. I was tired of having a book recommended to me, getting it from the library, starting to read it, only to figure out (sometimes 50-100 pages later) that I already read it! I guess I'm one of those people who can read a book, enjoy it, and unless it is a story that binds powerfully with my soul, I can't for the life of me remember a thing about it a week later!I must be freeing up that memory space for something more relevant. If you want to discuss a book with me, you'd better catch me in those first couple of days!
Last year I started my own business because I needed a tax ID number to do a craft show. Then I did a couple more craft shows. Then I put my "wares" in a craft mall and several other specialty stores and bookstores. What are my wares? Handmade bookmarks made of creative wire shapes, embellished with beautiful beads! I really love making these bookmarks...each one is truly unique...and knowing that every time one of my customers picks up or puts down their book, they will be handling and enjoying my work!
Besides reading I enjoy other crafts, camping, cooking, spending time on the computer (reading a message board called "Leisure Reading" on AOL, among other things)spending time with my family as well as time alone to "recharge the batteries".
I'm so happy to have found this website and this fun and exciting concept! I hope it continues to grow with new members and soon we'll all be enjoying the fact that our releases are being caught and journalled, and that we'll all be catching releases ourselves!!
