I am a readaholic, bookaholic. I will read anything but I don't do Sci Fi and westerns. I cannot walk past a charity shop without a peek. My favourite place is Hay on Wye.

Now the boring bit. I am married with two grown lads and work part time for a big name supermarket.

My other interests are walking, geocaching and craft

My Life In Books.

My first choice is the Nancy Drew series of books by Carolyn Keene. I would have been about age 10 years. I loved Nancy Drew, who was such a cool character. She was allowed to go out on her own with her two friends solving all sorts of crimes and just having a good time. I wanted to be Nancy Drew.
When I reached early teens up until I was about 19 years old I was reading Catherine Cookson. My mom always has the women’s and women’s own magazine and a lot of Catherine Cookson books were in these mags. There were also plenty of these books lying around the house as my mom read them too. Catherine Cookson was great for me when I was a teenager. They were like gronw up fairy stories. The characters were always poor and were up against all sorts of problems but always overcame them with happy endings. Looking back now I don’t regret reading them but perhaps wouldn’t read them again.
I was then introduced to Virginia Andrews by a girl who lived by when we lived down the flat. I started by reading The Flowers in the Attic series and couldn’t put these book down. I had never read anything like them. They had everything, family saga, good over bad, a little bit of horror, not gory but scary as it could happen. I then read the Heaven series and can remember crying whilst reading Fallen Heats. Heaven the heroine was convinced her lover to be Troy was dead, but discovered a maze, and in the middle was a cottage. I knew Heaven was going to find Troy in the cottgae and can remember willing her to get there faster and to fall in his arms. Great stuff ! Then however I felt the books after that where all the same, and when you have read one you have read them all.

Books I read now vary a lot, but I have picked Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir. This book is about Lady Jane Grey from her childhood up until her execution. I have picked this to represent the whole genre of historical fiction. I love these type of books and my favourite time in history is The Tudors. I also enjoys books by Philippa Gregory, Suzannah Dunn, Diane Haeger and Jean Plaidy. I will read other historical fiction but the Tudor period is what I read about the most. What these books do for me is bring to life that peroid in history. I will then go on the internet and read more and also look to see where these people lived and where they now rest.
