Extended Profile
What's there to tell? I'm born and bred in the Klang Valley (Kuala Lumpur, aka KL) in Malaysia and would DIE if you ask me to not live here anymore. I enjoy reading and buying books will be part and parcel of my life. One of my goals in life is to read
as many books as I can before my eyesight fails me completely.
Having spent a little time in the American Mid West, I still miss Caribou Coffee after all these years. Sigh.
Found out about this site when the local paper had an article on it and my interest was piqued. I was mostly dormant, and only (semi-)active again in 2004 when I was invited to join the local Bookcrossing group.
My shelf pretty much reflects my tastes in books, save the odd title or two here and there - bestsellers (present or former), humour, memoirs and biographies that are not so blatantly ghostwritten, stories about big brands, whatever.
I admit, I occasionally use this site to get rid of the books that I'll probably never touch again for books that I really, REALLY want to read. One man's junk is another man's treasure, right?
I use my wish list to keep track of the books that I want to read.
I'm also on RABCK.com.
PM me if there's a book here that caught your eye, especially the "Available" ones, I'll be happy to send it you (and also make room for new books, haha). I'm also open for trades or RABCKs. When I do agree to a trade/RABCK, all I ask is that you make a journal entry when you get it. I don't mind if you send a book to me via surface mail because I know postage is not cheap anymore these days; so please understand when I send anything to you via normal post also.
[Disclaimer: Some of my AVLs might be MIA due to the fact that I forget that I bring them to meetups and for some reason, goes un-journalled - if I had promised you a certain book, I apologise and will offer an alternative title]
Book Rating System thanks to Scism
10: Excellent, at the top of its category. This book has impacted me deeply, challenged me profoundly, or has simply been a pure delight to read.
9: Great book - just a nitpick stands between it and a 10
8: Good, solid book that I would recommend to others.
7: Good book, but it didn’t grab me in a big way.
6: Decent, but not for me.
5: Maybe somebody else would like this. I didn't.
4: Only OK. Barely worth reading. The line between taking it and leaving it is very thin.
2-3: Has major problems. I don't recommend it.
1: It's hard to imagine anyone liking this book. I didn't finish it!
The reason why my wild release number is so pathetic is because I'm not confident about wild releasing in Malaysia - which is why I tend to do "controlled releases" instead; be it during meetups or via trades.
