Extended Profile
In the picture Õnneseen, our very new dog:) Well, now he has grown and is not quite that cute anymore - but very lovable still.

I like Finnish, English and American contemporary fiction. Some of my favourites include Bo Carpelan, Kjell Westö, Tove Jansson (I know, that's only authors writing in Swedish), Salman Rushdie, Paul Auster, Margaret Atwood, John Irving, Nick Hornby, Carol Joyce Oates, Carol Shields. I try to keep reading in French too, but there I am a bit at a loss, I haven't really found contemporary authors I'd really like. Guy de Maupassant is a great favourite though, and now that Milan Kundera writes in French I read him too. In Swedish I mainly read authors from Finland, but my absolute Nordic favourite is Peter Hoeg.

As I live in Helsinki, I use the public library quite a lot, so books labelled PC might mean Public Collection (and alas, not mine to give forward). I also borrow a lot from my parents, especially my mother keeps me busy with English novels, so PC might mean Parents' Collection as well:) Those that are actually in my personal collection I might consider lending, so it doesn't hurt to ask.

Besides of reading I love my boyfriend (I didn't quite succeed in trying to make him a bookcrosser too:), my dog, travelling and sailing. A lot of my time is taken up by volunteering in an association organising humanist coming of age camps for young people in the summer (here's the webpage to know more - also in English

I read a lot for my studies and work, but it doesn't count for me as "proper" reading; here I'm going to list the books I've read for pleasure (or released or found) since discovering bookcrossing in November 2003.
