People give me books all the time; everyone knows that I'm a prolific reader and will read pretty much anything. My mom gives me books every time she visits (she always visits a book store while she's here and finishes something like two to five books which she then hands over to me, not wanting to lug it about in her luggage). I have a professor-friend who gives me everything she doesn't want to hang on to. Her specialty is women's lit and popular culture so I'm always receiving interesting things. I have several friends who handed over large parts of their collection when they moved out of town and didn't want to pack up so many books. I read most of the books but don't necessarily want to keep them all on my bookshelves (which are already pretty crowded!). So I was left with literally hundreds of books and didn't know what to do with them.

I put quite a few nice ones aside for local libraries and schools. I joined paperbackswap.com to get books I *really* wanted or to complete series of books to hand over to schools. I joined science fiction swap site to get rid of some of the specialty SF books that didn't get any interest on the PaperBackSwap site. And I'm using BookCrossing to register pretty much everything I give away, but I'm also using it as a special way to give away books that weren't appropriate for the other dispersal techniques. ;)

I had originally registered with another name several years ago but forgot about it. Because I had forgotten about that other account, I registered with this name too. So now I have two BookCrossing accounts. Someday (when time permits.....life has been.....interesting....lately), I hope to use the other name and address to start an Official Book Crossing Zone (OBCZ).

My apologies but I don't do any trading through BookCrossing. I'm using BookCrossing to distribute books that are a bit too "well-loved" (rips in covers, minor stains on edges, etc.).
